At Purpose House Church, we believe that everyone has a unique purpose in life. Our mission is to guide and support you on your journey of discovering that purpose.
Located in the beautiful region of Southern Illinois, our church is a welcoming and inclusive community where you can explore your faith, grow spiritually, and find your true calling.
We are a church on purpose! We desire to reach, teach and equip people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
At Purpose House Church, we believe in reaching others with the Good News, whether that is across the aisle, across the street, or around the world. We reach across the aisle to pray for and support our fellow members, across the street by serving our neighbors and communities, and around the world by supporting overseas missions and by funding churches in South America.
We teach relevant messages that are rooted in Biblical truth.
We equip people through core classes that provide practical ways to help others. We also equip people to share the Good News of Jesus with others. And, we equip people to serve and find their passion and purpose in Christ.

We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We do our best to embody these three aspects of a Gospel-centered Christian community.
We believe that in essential beliefs, we have unity.
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:4-6 NIV).
We believe that in non-essential beliefs, we have liberty.
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters” (Romans 14:1 NIV).
“Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall…” (Romans 14:4 NIV).
“So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God” (Romans 14:12 NIV).
“So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God….” (Romans 14:22 NIV).
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13, ESV).
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36 ESV).
We believe in all our beliefs, we show charity.
“If I … hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but the very secrets of God, and if I also have that absolute faith which can move mountains, but have no love, I amount to nothing at all” (1 Corinthians. 13:2 Phillips).
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.
We believe in one eternal God; revealed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:4-6).
We believe God is love.
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love” (1 John 4:7-8 NIV).
We believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins and rose again.
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'” (John 14:6).
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 ESV).
“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life” (1 John 5:20).
We believe the Bible is God’s Word – it is without error and applicable to our everyday lives.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right” (2 Timothy 3:16 NLT).
“Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:20-21 ESV).
“The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace … ” (Psalm 12:6 ESV).
“But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God’” (Matthew 4:4 ESV).
“Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe” (1 Thessalonians 2:13).
We believe we need to be baptized in water and that those who are baptized are following Jesus’ example and obeying His command.
“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased’” (Matthew 3:16–17 NIV).
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age’” (Matthew 28:18–20).

We believe we need to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within us after we accept Jesus as our savior. The Holy Spirit assures us of our salvation, guides us, and helps us conform to the image of Jesus. He also convicts us of sin, comforts us, enables us to use our spiritual gifts (including speaking in tongues), and empowers us for service.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” (John 14:26 ESV).
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26 ESV).
“Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38 NIV).
“’If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you'” (John 14:15-17 NKJV).
“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple” (1 Corinthians 3:16 NIV).

We believe we were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him, but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, we are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through our own efforts.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27).
“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8 ESV).
We believe the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross provides the only way for the forgiveness of sin. God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation cannot be earned — it is a gift from God.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians. 5:17).
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” (Romans 10:9-10).
“Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:11-12 NIV).

We believe in the power and significance of the Church. It is a necessity for believers to meet regularly, whether in person or digitally, to learn about the faith and for fellowship, prayer and the ‘breaking of bread.’
“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts” (Colossians 3:16).
“not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25 NIV).
We believe Jesus Christ is coming back as He promised. We believe in his visible return to the earth, establishing His Kingdom, the resurrection of the body and the final judgment. We believe our eternal destination of either heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
“So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him” (Hebrews 9:28 ESV).
“For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man” (Matthew 24:27).
“’Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also” (John 14:1-3).
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelations 20:11-15 ESV).
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together … but encouraging one another…” (Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV).
